Title

Eskimo

Abstract

This magazine has recorded Inuit culture and the activities of the Diocese of Churchill-Hudson Bay in the Arctic for over sixty years. Most articles are written by northern missionaries. Topics covered over the publication years include missionary biographies, travel stories, meeting reports, opinion pieces, letters to the editors, new summaries, obituaries and book reviews, with an occasional reprint from a northern newspaper. Eskimo also contains the beginnings of published Inuit literature; poem, legends, songs and diary extracts are included in its pages. Volumes for February 1946 to Summer 1967 were issued by the body under its earlier name, the Oblate Fathers of the Hudson Bay Vicariate and issues for Christmas 1967 to Fall/winter 1970 by the Oblate Fathers of the Diocese of Churchill.
