Title

Taqralik

Abstract

Subtitled The Magazine of Northern Quebec, this news magazine began as a publication of the Northern Quebec Inuit Association (NQIA), to inform all members about the work of the association. Makivik Corporation continued the publication under its original name when it became responsible for Inuit economic development in northern Quebec in 1981. The newsletter was distributed free of charge to all communities. Its pages contain information about issues and events of concern to residents and the organization, primarily government and land claims negotiations. The Letters to the Editor pages contain several letters per issue. Each issue contains a community profile. Occasional stories and autobiographical pieces are included as well as reports on culture and sporting events.
